So, is this mall dying or is it already dead?
But that was the main problem. There are very few places to actually shop. You can enjoy the building, but if your intentions are to shop, I would try elsewhere. Most of the store fronts are empty.
I will start with the positive. There is so much character in the original building. The high ceilings are beautiful and such a testament to the old way of building. It's rare to walk into a mall and see glass ceilings, chandeliers, and crown molding. It was neat to walk around and marvel at.
Unfortunately the place is getting less shops every year I visit. I think that it is not common for people to walk around for shopping and are more used to places where you can drive and park easily.
My review isn't really a rating of the shops inside Grand Ave. but more a rating of the Grand Ave. experience overall. Lots of closed storefronts. The place seems to thrive as a food court for the downtown business class only. So much potential....or? I don't know. Maybe the project was kind of failed from the beginning.
I do not know how long this place is gonna keep open at this pace.
Not many shops, and the second to last time a very tall and creepy dude yelled to get my attention while I was trying to avoid him, and proceeded to ask me what I would do or how to handle when a friend shoots their self in the head. Unfortunately vagrants or loitering can be common here. However their security has improved drastically and they have a reputable and amazing local fruit stand. Pete’s Fruit stand.
The internet has killed this mall.
Fewer shops, fewer food court choices, no kiosk anymore. Has the new management ??given up on this mall. ?_ Let GAMall slide, while Bon-ton just down sized their flagship store... Boston store should eliminate Price busters, yellow dots, and promotions every week. Notice that guys can't stand the crazy coupons. The fine print discourages older patrons And disabled from getting good deals...
