Love the shopping, a lot of homeless hang around there.
Literally go to 2 stores in this shopping center - US cellular and famous footwear.
Finally, this year, they had the Adidas with the gold stripes in my size. and my daughters. and my son's. that alone should make anyone a loyal shopper!
Recently took my dad to make the leap from a flip phone to a new fangled smart phone. It may or may not have been against his will. However, the staff politely ignored the handcuffs, tazer and temper tantrums, and helped my dad make the leap to the information age. The associate was more than patient, answering his questions, explaining how the phone worked, and even setting him up with his first email address. She worked with us for over 2 hours, handled a multitude of issues, and I think possibly stayed after her quit time. The only downside of this whole thing is that I haven't seen my dad in weeks. I think he got lost in the net somewhere. But, he did figure out how to order food from his smart phone, so I'll assume he's okay.
Long long ago, in a land far away... oops. wrong story. hold on.
Super lengthy, but I've still got to review the other store. So, strap in, boys and girls, and I'll tell you a story or two about why I only shop at famous footwear for shoes for my kids.
The first indicator that this was the place to go for kids shoes is the buy one get one half off sale they run every year at back to school time. Let's face it. kids are expensive. sending them to school is expensive. and shoes are kind of a necessity, especially in the winter. So, shoes they'll wear, without being made fun of, and saving some money, can't lose, right? AND, they have a loyalty/ reward system, where you earn points, and get discounts on future purchases (more on this later).
I like the store in the Loomis center. I've never had to wait long, staff is willing to spend as much time as it takes. Can't say the same for some of the other locations- 76th: take a number & we're too busy to answer questions. Miller parkway: store is always empty, but I always felt like I was bothering the employees. Have never had that at Loomis.
I go to the gym here, but there's rarely ever parking upfront around 6-9 pm
The loyalty/ rewards system gave me my other awesome experience. You get discounts with points earned through purchases and coupons for birthdays. Went in, looking for winter boots for my son. Found a pair on sale. Was allowed to use points and birthday coupons on top of the sale price, and literally paid like $2 for a pair of Osiris snow boarding boots. Can't even get boots at goodwill for $2. Plus, the discounts are stored in their computer system, so you don't have to worry about remembering to bring a coupon.
Good variety of stores. Area cleaner than it use to be. Seems they are trying to improve area.
Let's start with US cellular - I've been a customer of theirs since the 90s. I left once, to go to Verizon, in the early 2000s. Worst. Decision. EVER. So, I swallowed my pride and went back to US cellular, tail between my legs, ashamed of my poor life choices (I'll blame it on being a young adult, with a fresh new id that got me into the best spots in the city...) BUT, US Cell was more than willing to welcome me back into their warm telephonic embrace.
Don't think I've ever been disappointed.
So, it's back to school time, I'm walking in the store, not too upset, knowing that I'll at least save a bit of money with the BOGO sale. Have my cute little "angels" in tow. All is going great. Until it doesn't. I don't even remember what started it, but my cute, adorable little angels flipped the switch and turned into demon spawn. seriously. I think they got possessed or something. So, I had to quickly preform a mini exorcism in the store, remind them of who they are, and what's expected. Thankfully, they calmed down. As I was checking out, I apologized. The cashier thanked me for keeping my kids in line, and gave me her employee discount and some coupons, and called it a "good parent discount" for monitoring my kids behavior. That experience cinched it, have only been shopping there since.
