One of my top 3 favorite zoo's in the country I've traveled a lot lived a lot of places, they have a lot of knowledgeable staff at many of the animal enclosures its well organised the layout makes it a pleasant walk. Its well landscaped, i like going in the spring/summer/fall seasons just for the nature walk you experience between animals. They also have a lot of stuff for kids i can't speak on that because i don't have any myself but i do know they have Interactive stuff and a few rides, a few shows. I highly recommend visiting this zoo if you like zoos and you're hear. I would drive probably up to a hundred miles to visit. Its worth the experience.
Fun day! Not many animals out today but the ones that were were very active. But it's such a nice area to get steps in because you got the Hills and the flats and there's not that many people there because it's only open from 9:30 to 2:30 during this time of year. Everything is shoveled and salted and Easy to walk or push a wheelchair in and baby cart. I think the greatest thing was that we saw so many guys by themselves pushing their babies or pulling them and wagons. It was such a joyful thing to see.
The main show is the zoology, and it is something that I hope the zoo continues to focus on while remaining an educational and entertaining experience for visitors of all ages.
A Milwaukee landmark that remains as engaging on the hundredth visit as it was on the first. A wide variety of different animals exhibited in the trademark "predator/prey" style, all well-cared-for and in enclosures that generally offer a good view. The setting of the zoo is also fantastic, set into an old-growth forest that betrays the true size of the property and provides a relaxing place to walk or sit and rest during a busy day.
The best zoo in the state, bar none. Beautiful exhibits, wide variety of animals, and even a chairlift. This zoo is one of the highlights Milwaukee has to offer. Don't skip it. Try going on a slow day (Tuesday or Wednesday) to avoid the crowds. Restrooms can be hard to find in some areas. They are building a second entrance and a new elephant exhibit, developments to definitely watch.
We have a zoo pass and we go frequently. Getting a zoo pass is the way to go. My only complaint would be the bathrooms are NOT kid friendly. The sinks are too high with no step stool. However, the education building does have kid friendly bathrooms which is very helpful. We enjoy zoo classes also. Would recommend
Amenities are sufficient if not remarkable. They recently put some effort into revitalizing the main cafeteria, which shows with more, healthier, and better-value options. A fair representation of gift shops is scattered about the property, and a small special exhibits building allows them to bring in some rotating attractions. There are also several up-charge attractions such as the Sea Lion show, park-touring "Zoomobile" tours, a chairlift and the iconic Milwaukee Zoo railroad. As a long-time visitor, it has been a quite a while since I have done any of these, but I imagine that they could find value with the correct audience.
