Terrible venue. Worst i have been to. If you have covered seats & it is a hot & humid night it's like you're sitting in a sauna. The design lacks an air movement. If you enter on the left side foe sections 1,2,3 it is overcrowded. Too narrow. Another terrible design. Not enough toilets. Just saw Tom Petty & what should've been a great show turned into an unpleasant experience. Alpine Valley was 100% better. Wish that place was still open.
Summerfest is a great experience if you have never been. The Amphitheater has great views and always has the best musicians. The facility itself is a little older and could use some renovations.
Just changed the name, but did no upgrades. This is the former Marcus Amphitheater. If you have seats in the bleachers or on the lawn you'll be watching on the monitor as it's impossible to see from even the front row bleachers. Unless you can't I recommend red section to mid yellow section. Bathroom situation at this venue is and always has been dismal. This is slightly better in the red section as you have quicker access to different bathrooms than other sections.
Tom Petty was terrific. Playing 2.5 hours to a sold out crowd July 7th, played all his greatest hits. Chris Stapleton played 1 hour of country rock, great performance.
Love that they are making improvements to this venue! Summerfest is a staple of summertime in Wisconsin. Its great that this venue can bring such big names to perform. One "insider" tip if you're in the back half of the venue, rather than wait in line for the bathrooms near the stairs, walk all the way to the top and use the portable toilets that are just below and to the right of the concession stand. Also, for those unfamiliar, bleacher and lawn seats for not have cover. Fun open air venue!
