Make sure you go inside and check out how the interior is designed, truly breathtaking and amazing. If you love architecture, don't miss this.
This beautiful city hall was built in the late 1800's. At one time this was the tallest building in the area. They built this one right. You must see inside.
If touring Milwaukee, a stop at the city hall is worth the trip. The building was completed in 1895 and at the time was the second tallest structure in the U.S. (only the Washington Monument was taller). The architecture was considered extremely advanced at the time as the building is triangular in shape. The bell tower has been used as a symbol for Milwaukee for decades. There are stories that there was an underground tunnel that led to several other buildings including an after hours ‘house of entertainment’. There are many tunnels under the city (including under city hall) whether these led to the rumored places has not been confirmed.
So if you are walking around downtown Milwaukee I recommend that you seriously consider going by the Milwaukee city hall. It is definitely an imposing structure and you should definitely see it. It is well-designed and has very much architectural appeal, it anchors the cities design.
Have quite enjoyed coming here. The tour was informative. Office workers are wonderfully knowledgeable. Saw news folks and even the mayor in passing (next time maybe he won't be going to a meeting haha). Just saw the tree for the holidays. Clean, and grand. Happy to of been invited. Sure I'll be back soon
Checked this building out for doors open Milwaukee. Neat building. Worth checking out.
