I have relatives buried at Woodlawn and also live right across the street, so I am here pretty frequently. It used to be owned by a Lutheran church and is now owned by Oak Street Properties. There have been big changes with the new owners, some good, some bad. Woodlawn is a small cemetary that is very well-maintained. Oak Street properties inherited some sloppy record keeping and violations on the grounds that they have had to take care of and have done a good job of cleaning the place up. The staff was also pretty caring and compassionate with my Father's passing and took the time out to help us with some difficult decisions. But there is also a reason my husband calls them "The Cemetery Nazi's". They have instituted rule on top of rule, so much so that we cannot keep up. Every momento we leave seems to get removed for reasons I cannot fathom. I know others have had this same problem. I think they want you to buy the arrangements from their office. Woodlawn is a beautiful and peaceful place and it would be a mistake to put profits ahead of people.
The roller coaster rides in this place are out of this world!
My Mother and Father are both buried there. It is very well maintained.
It's a nice, relaxing and well maintained cemetery. It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live here.
