While this is a pretty unique museum, of the three times I have been there sadly enough I'm yet to see the wings in action. If this is why you are going good luck. Wind is a critical factor, "too windy" and they will not open them. Maybe they should have thought about that before building it at the lake front. I'm sure they could hire a capable engineer to fix the issue. Anyway, the wings supposedly open at 10am, noon, and before closing. The art within is nothing to brag about but they do have a several pieces worth looking at. Enjoy!
The art is awesome. I for one would eat before going, the prices seem steep for the ambiance and service.
A beautiful building with an amazing view of the lake! They get some very interesting exhibits - I always make a point of going when a new one comes to town. The gift shop is also very cute! Make sure to go on the first Thursday of the month as it's free to the public on these days! They also host a monthly event called MAM After Dark with live music and a different theme each time. A true gem of Milwaukee!
So much variety of art! I like how there's an audio guide for hundreds of artwork. I spend a lot of time exploring this place. The Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit was informative and also had audio guides. Staff was helpful.
This place is awesome the building itself is a piece of art. They have a few art pieces from some of the most commonly heard of famous artists as permanent installations. They even have a section for hillbilly art all the way through to the most sophisticated art so they have a little bit of everything for everyone.
The only complaint I had was the parking wasn't free and could get pricey by the hour.
We however did enjoy the martinis.
